Course Outline

 

This qualification reflects the role of workers who provide self-directed recovery oriented support for people affected by mental illness and psychiatric disability.

 

Work involves implementing community based programs and activities focusing on mental health, mental illness and psychiatric disability. Work is undertaken in a range of community contexts such as community based non-government organisations; home based outreach; centre-based programs; respite care; residential services, rehabilitation programs; clinical settings; or supporting people in employment.

 

Work is carried out autonomously under the broad guidance of other practitioners and professionals.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 80 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

Course Information

  • This course will examine the link between mental health and alcohol and other drugs, as well as exploring mental health in the community and in the workplace. A focus on working with families dealing with mental health issues is also covered. A structured workplace learning component is included to deliver practical skills.

  • To be eiligble for enrolment in this course, you must already be working within the health or community services sector.

Are you eligible for government funding?

The funded programs are open to any Queensland resident aged 15 years or over who is:

  • No longer at school (with the exception of VET in Schools students)

  • Is an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency.

Certificate IV for $380 or $280 concessional:

  • To be eligible for funding for this course, you must currently be working within the health or community sector. 

  • You must not be currently enrolled in or have completed a certificate IV or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school or foundations skills training.

 

Back to Work Funding (C3G)

Back to Work Funding may be available to those who have already completed a qualification. Please call us on (07z0 5537 4239 for eligibility.
